If you ask our opinion on in-person therapy vs. online or video call options, we will always recommend in-person therapy sessions. During covid, online options became more and more popular – and for good reason! Obviously, if online therapy options are the only way you can access therapy or you have the occasional online session for convenience, go for it. But if you have the choice, here are a few reasons we want to see you in person as much as possible!
- In-person therapy will limit your distractions. By coming into our office and leaving your kids, chores, work, and any other distractions behind, you are able to dedicate your whole session to focusing on improving you. Our office is quiet, calm, and we strive to make you as comfortable as possible by providing a safe space for all.
- By coming into the office, we can read your body language better. Did you know most communication we use as humans is nonverbal? Being able to watch your body language and nonverbal cues, we are able to get a better read on your mood and the messages you convey. This will help us figure out the best way to help you and work through your issues. You may not realize you’re even doing it, but body language always sends a very strong message to the trained eye!
- Building trust can be easier in person. Meeting someone face to face has more weight than over the phone or over video chat does, and it can help you and your therapist bond more quickly and effectively. Humans need face to face interaction to thrive!
