Kayla Kerby

CMHC-I, Student, Life coach/ Consultant, LGBTQIA+

Kayla Kerby is an Advanced Standing Social Work graduate student at the University of Utah and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. For over five years, she has been actively advocating for youth and LGBTQIA+ populations, and she is deeply committed to serving underrepresented and marginalized communities. Kayla is licensed in Social Services and certified in the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) for suicide assessment and prevention.

Kayla specializes in working with LGBTQIA+ and fetish populations. She approaches therapy holistically, offering education on natural wellness practices in addition to supporting clients who benefit from medication management. Natural alternatives explored in therapy may include vitamins and supplements, mindful nutrition, movement and exercise, self-care routines, incense and essential oils, herbal supports, and more.

Her therapeutic work is rooted in respect, empowerment, and collaboration. Kayla draws from multiple evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and grief and loss interventions, among others. She believes in walking alongside her clients—offering guidance when appropriate, while ultimately empowering them to create meaningful, sustainable change in and outside of the therapy room.

Kayla is affirming of queer and kink identities and recognizes the emotional and relational challenges that can arise in a society that often stigmatizes non-normative expressions of love, gender, and sexuality. She provides a safe, inclusive space for clients from LGBTQIA+ and local fetish communities, and is sex-positive, poly-affirming, kink-aware, and supportive of sex work. If you’ve ever felt misunderstood or isolated due to your identity, desires, or lifestyle, Kayla is here to provide compassionate, informed care.

Outside of therapy, Kayla is a small business owner who enjoys home decorating and refinishing furniture. She is also in the process of becoming a certified medium and values spiritual exploration as a form of healing. In her personal time, Kayla embraces creative expression and the outdoors, enjoying activities like yoga, hiking, backpacking, biking, longboarding, dog walks, and recreational sports. She values sober living and supports clients pursuing or maintaining sobriety.

Kayla has dedicated her life to creating a more equitable, inclusive world for those who have experienced discrimination, judgment, or isolation. She is passionate about advocating for systemic and societal change, and believes in the transformative power of honoring diverse cultures, identities, and ways of being.
